The workflow: from init patch to finished sound
Fourteen lessons condensed into one repeatable design loop — and where to go next on your own machine.
You now hold the whole map. Every parameter page on every device in this catalog is built from things this course taught: a source with a harmonic recipe, a filter with an envelope, an amp with a contour, LFOs, sends, and a sequencer that can lock any of it per step. What remains is order of operations — the loop working sound designers actually run.
The design loop, in course order
- Source first (lessons 2, 9–12): pick the recipe — a wave, an FM ratio, a sample, a grain cloud. Get the raw material interesting before any processing.
- Shape its time (lesson 3): amp envelope — is this a pluck, a stab, a pad? Most "wrong" sounds are just wrong envelopes.
- Carve the tone (lessons 4–5): cutoff sets the character; the filter envelope gives it a mouth. The pew lives here.
- Add motion (lesson 6): one subtle LFO under the surface. If you can point at it, it is too loud.
- Give it weight and a place (lessons 7–8): drive for density, then delay/reverb to seat it near or far.
- Write it into the pattern (lessons 13–14): p-lock the accents, roll dice on the ghosts. The sequencer is the final synthesis stage.
Run that loop on any of the four devices and you will notice you are just walking the page row left to right — TRIG, source, FLTR, AMP, FX, MOD are the loop's stations printed on the panel. The machines differ; the walk does not.
