# 17.2 MIDI CONFIG 17. SETTINGS MENU 17. SETTINGS MENU The SETTINGS menu offers settings that affect Tonverk and can also be used to manage Projects. Press [SETTINGS] to access the SETTINGS menu. Scroll the list by using [UP]/[DOWN] or the LEVEL/ DATA knob. Open a highlighted menu by pressing [YES]. 17.1 USB DISK MODE This option allows you to access Tonverk’s SD card from a computer, enabling the transfer of files between the device and the computer. This is useful for transferring samples and OS updates. 17.1.1 USING USB DISK MODE 1. Connect Tonverk to a computer/phone/tablet using a USB cable attached to one of Tonverk’s USB ports. 2. Select USB DISK MODE and then press [YES]. 3. In the pop-up window, press [YES], but note that device playback will stop. 4. Tonverk should now show up on your computer as a USB device. Click the Tonverk USB device on your computer to access the contents of the SD card. 5. To exit the USB disk mode, you must first safely eject the Tonverk USB device. Please refer to your computer’s documentation on how to perform this procedure. 6. On your device. Press [NO] to exit USB disk mode. If you delete or move samples (or a folder containing samples) on the SD card, it will affect all projects that use the deleted or moved samples, and the samples will be missing from these projects. 17.2 MIDI CONFIG In this menu, various sub-menus dealing with the MIDI functionality of Tonverk are found. 17.2.1 SYNC Controls how Tonverk receives and sends MIDI clock and transport commands. Change settings by using the [LEFT]/[RIGHT] arrow keys or the [YES] key. 17. SETTINGS MENU CLOCK RECEIVE determines whether Tonverk responds to MIDI clock sent from external devices or not. CLOCK SEND determines whether Tonverk transmits MIDI clock or not. TRANSPORT RECEIVE determines whether Tonverk responds to MIDI transport messages sent from external devices or not. TRANSPORT SEND determines whether Tonverk transmits MIDI transport messages or not. PROG CH RECEIVE will, when active, make Tonverk respond to incoming program change messages, which is useful when wanting to select patterns externally. The MIDI channel that will listen to incom ing program change messages is set in the MIDI CHANNELS menu. For more information, please see “17.2.3 CHANNELS” on page 75. PROG CH SEND will, when active, send program change messages when patterns are changed. The MIDI channel that will send program change messages is set in the MIDI CHANNELS menu. For more information, please see “17.2.3 CHANNELS” on page 75. 17.2.2 PORT CONFIG Here you find the MIDI port-related settings. Change settings by using the [LEFT]/[RIGHT] arrow keys. RECEIVE NOTES will, when active, enable playing Tonverk using an external MIDI keyboard. RECEIVE CC/NRPN will, when active, make it possible to control Tonverk’s parameters from an external MIDI device sending CC and NRPN data. INPUT FROM selects the source from which Tonverk will receive MIDI data. • DISABLED will make Tonverk disregard any incoming MIDI data. • MIDI will make Tonverk listen only to MIDI data sent to the MIDI IN port. • USB will make Tonverk listen only to MIDI data sent to the USB port. • MIDI+USB will make Tonverk listen to MIDI data sent to both the MIDI IN and USB ports. OUTPUT TO selects the destination to which Tonverk will send MIDI data. • DISABLED will stop Tonverk from sending out any MIDI data. • MIDI will make Tonverk send MIDI data to the MIDI OUT port only. • USB will make Tonverk send MIDI data to the USB port only. • MIDI+USB will make Tonverk send MIDI data to both the MIDI OUT and USB ports. 17.2.3 CHANNELS This menu handles the MIDI channel configuration. AUTO CHANNEL selects the MIDI channel that will give access to the currently active track. If an ex ternal MIDI keyboard connected to Tonverk sends MIDI data on this channel, the keyboard will control the active track. This is particularly useful, for example, when quickly switching between active audio tracks to play different presets. Tonverk also utilizes the AUTO channel to record MIDI tracks from external MIDI controllers. 17. SETTINGS MENU PROGRAM CHG IN CH selects the MIDI channel that will listen for incoming program change mes sages. An AUTO setting will use the AUTO channel. Enable Tonverk to respond to program change messages in the MIDI SYNC menu. For more information, please see “17.2.1 SYNC” on page 74. PROGRAM CHG OUT CH selects the MIDI channel that will send program change messages when changing patterns. An AUTO setting will use the AUTO channel. Enable Tonverk to send program change messages in the MIDI SYNC. For more information, please see “17.2.1 SYNC” on page 74. TRACKS 1–16 have their own dedicated MIDI channel, which is used to receive or send (by turning the knobs) parameter data to or from a specific audio track. The MIDI channel num ber corresponds to the track number. • The sequencer data is always sent on the MIDI channel specified by the CHAN parameter on the SRC PARAMETER page for the MIDI SCR machine. • The selected MIDI channel for the Auto channel is only used for the Auto channel, and the track that uses the same channel does not listen to any MIDI data. 17.3 AUDIO ROUTING In this menu, you’ll find additional audio routing options for the external audio from the IN A/B inputs and for audio over USB. The settings made here affects all the patterns in the project. 17.3.1 EXT INPUT GAIN Sets the gain of the incoming audio from the IN A/B inputs. 17.3.2 EXT AUDIO IN This parameter lets you select where to route the audio from the IN A/B inputs. • OFF The audio from the IN A/B inputs is turned off • PATTERN The audio routing set by the ROUT parameter on the Mix track’s SRC page in the pat tern decides the audio routing. • OUT AB The audio is routed to the A/B outputs. • OUT CD The audio is routed to the C/D outputs. • OUT EF The audio is routed to the E/F outputs. 17.3.3 USB AUDIO IN This parameter lets you select where to route the external audio over USB. • OFF The audio in over USB is turned off • PATTERN The audio routing set by the ROUT parameter on the Mix track’s SRC page in the pat tern decides the audio routing. • OUT AB The audio is routed to the A/B outputs. • OUT CD The audio is routed to the C/D outputs. • OUT EF The audio is routed to the E/F outputs. The settings you make using the EXT AUDIO IN and USB AUDIO IN parameters apply at the project level and override any settings made with the ROUT parameter on the Mix track’s SRC page For more information, please see “4.4.1 ROUTING TRACKS” on page 18. and “15.3 SRC PAGE” on page 69.
