# 1.1 CONVENTIONS IN THIS MANUAL 1. INTRODUCTION 1. INTRODUCTION To get the most out of your Tonverk, we recommend that you read this manual in its entirety. 1.1 CONVENTIONS IN THIS MANUAL We have used the following conventions throughout the manual: • Key names are written in upper case, bold style and within brackets. For instance, the key labeled “FUNC” on the main panel is written as [FUNC]. • Knobs are written in upper case, bold, italic letters. For instance, the knob “Level/Data” is written LEVEL/DATA. • Menu names are written in upper case letters. The SETTINGS menu is an example of that. • Parameter names and certain menu options where settings can be made or actions performed are written in bold, upper case letters. For example, NOTE. • Upper case letters are used for parameter setting alternatives. For example, OFF. • Messages visible on the screen are written in upper case letters with quotation marks. For example, “QUANTIZED RECORDING”. • LED indicators like the keyboard octave LEDs are written like this: <KEYBOARD OCTAVE>. The following symbols are used throughout the manual: Important information that you should pay attention to. A tip that will make it easier for you to interact with Tonverk. 2. THE TONVERK 2. THE TONVERK We’re thrilled to introduce you to Tonverk. In many ways, Tonverk is an instrument synonymous with the journey, with adventure. Its own arrival is the result of plenty of exciting twists and turns. From launch, it opens up countless sonic journeys in different directions, and in many respects, its own path is only just beginning. As we dreamt up this machine, we knew it would be more than just a new instrument. It would signal the first steps on the latest Elektron platform, injecting new possibilities into our portfolio. With broader answers possible, we considered how we sample, and how we sculpt sound. Where could Tonverk take us, and what more could we do along the way? The result is a powerful workstation. A versatile, playful, creative one. It adapts to whatever you want to do with it. A labyrinth full of routes, a pathfinder full of revelations. Sixteen varied tracks - eight of them audio with multiple machines, polyphonic stereo sampling, a kaleidoscope of effects and modulation, multisam pled instruments, subtracks within tracks, and routing itself pushed until it becomes a playground. Whether you’re multisampling your favorite synth, building unique drum kits, or routing sounds out and back in again for further alchemy, Tonverk is ready to take you there.
