INTERACTING WITH TONVERK • Press [PARAMETER PAGE] key + [PLAY] to reset all the parameters in the selected parameter page to default values. • Press and hold a [PARAMETER PAGE] key to see the values for all parameters on that page. 6.3.1 PARAMETER SNAP VALUES Pressing [FUNC] while editing specific parameters will cause the parameter values to snap to suitable musical and performance related values. The NOTE parameter, for example, snaps to octave steps, and the PAN parameter snaps to full left, center, and full right. 6.4 [FUNC] KEY PRESS COMBINATIONS The standard way to use the [FUNC] key in combination with other keys is to press and hold [FUNC] and then press the second key in the combination. 6.5 QUICK SCROLLING Scroll through menus using the LEVEL/DATA knob. Quick scrolling is possible on many menus. Press [FUNC] + the [UP/DOWN] keys to move the cursor one menu page. 6.6 COPY, CLEAR, AND PASTE Copy, clear, and paste commands are available in many contexts. Pressing [FUNC] + [RECORD] to copy. Press [FUNC] + [STOP] to paste. Press [FUNC] + [PLAY] to clear. Please refer to the various sections in the manual for more information on when these commands are available. For more information, please see “19. KEY COMBINATIONS” on page 79. 6.7 THE NAMING SCREEN The naming method is identical for the various naming situations.. The [LEFT] and [RIGHT] arrow keys are used to navigate between the characters. Turning the LEVEL/ DATA knob or pressing the [UP] or [DOWN] arrow keys selects the characters. [FUNC] + [NO] erases characters. [FUNC] + [YES] inserts a space. Press [SETTINGS] to create a random name. Press and hold [FUNC] to access the Pop-up Naming menu. 6.7.1 POP-UP NAMING A convenient way of naming is to open a pop-up menu that shows all available letters, symbols, and digits. Press and hold the [FUNC] key when you are on the NAMING screen to access the Pop-up naming screen. Keep [FUNC] pressed and use the [ARROW] keys to highlight the character you want to insert. Once there, release [FUNC] to add the character. At the same time, pressing and holding [FUNC], press [TRIG 1 / TRIG 2] to switch between character layouts. 6. INTERACTING WITH TONVERK Copy, paste, and clear commands are available on the NAMING screen. 6.8 CLASS COMPLIANT DEVICE Tonverk is a class-compliant device (also known as plug-and-play). It means it does not require any addi tional drivers to connect to your computer or other USB class-compliant hosts. Tonverk can, therefore, stream audio and MIDI directly over USB to and from supported computers, phones, and tablets. It opens up several exciting possibilities of what you can do with your device, for example, record audio from your device directly over USB in your DAW. 6.9 BACKING UP TONVERK It is always recommended to make regular backups of all your Tonverk data. To create backups and transfer files to and from your Elektron device to a computer, you should use the USB DISK MODE. 6.9.1 BACKING UP TONVERK DATA TO A COMPUTER 1. Connect a USB cable between the computer and one of Tonverk’s USB ports. 2. On the device, navigate to SETTINGS > USB DISK MODE, and then press [YES]. 3. On the popup window, press [YES], but be aware that device playback will stop. 4. Tonverk’s SD card should now show up in your computer as a USB device. Click the Tonverk USB device on the computer to access the SD card’s contents. 5. Copy the files and folders you want to back up from Tonverk’s SD card to the computer. 6. Once all data is copied, safely eject the Tonverk USB device from the computer. Please refer to your computer’s documentation on how to perform this procedure. 7. On your device, press [NO] to exit USB disc mode. 6.9.2 TRANSFERRING BACKED UP DATA TO TONVERK 1. Connect a USB cable between the computer and one of Tonverk’s USB ports. 2. On the device, navigate to SETTINGS > USB DISK MODE, and then press [YES]. 3. On the popup window, press [YES], but be aware that device playback will stop. 4. Tonverk’s SD card should now show up in your computer as a USB device. Click the Tonverk USB device on the computer/device to access the SD card’s contents. 5. Delete the backed-up files and folders from the SD card. (You don’t have to delete the files, but you can instead replace the files and folders; however, it will then ask you whether you want to keep or replace every file). DO NOT delete files and folders from the SD card unless you have a previously made backup of the Tonverk data available. 7. Copy the all the previously backed up files from the computer to Tonverk’s SD card to restore all Tonverk data. 8. Once all files are copied, safely eject the Tonverk USB device from the computer. Please refer to your computer’s documentation on how to perform this procedure. 9. On Tonverk. Press [NO] to exit USB disk mode. • If you only want to back up the data you have created (projects, presets, instruments, and recordings), as well as the samples you have added. Then, you only need to back up the USER folder (unless you have manually selected to store user data outside of this folder) • You can also use a smartphone or tablet to store and retrieve Tonverk data. 6.10 OS UPGRADE If a new version of the Tonverk operating system is available, it is highly recommended that you download and install the OS to keep your device up to date with the latest functionality and fixes. You can download the OS file from the Elektron website’s Support section.
